The three companies I pick are Studio Gibli, Gamestop, and best buy. I'm choosing them because they sound like a lot of fun to do and it will also help the companies out.
Studio Gibli is a small company when it comes to America, but is huge when it comes to japan. They are animation and production company that creates movies like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's delivery Service, and many more. They have a pretty big budget over in Japan, but here they don't have a huge budget. Its not to small of a budget, but Hijo is not that famous because most of America is hooked on super heros. their audience is Anime lovers so 14-25. So the target is young adults and they are good at spreading it to their children.
Gamestop is the second choice i have. Gamestop is video game store that sells new and used video games stuff like Pokemon, Skylanders and much more. They are not a huge corporation, but they are also not small. Gamestop mainly targets young adults who play video games and even older adults who play video games. They have a budget of about 10,000 dollars to spend and they are a good candidate because they are more based in America.
Best Buy is a store that sells everything from candy to electronics. They are know for tv's and computers mainly. they have been around a while and done very well for themselves. Target is one of the big competitors for them. They have a fairly large budget and they work hard to keep it that way by advertising to their target market. The target market is from 14-50 because of all the items sold at Best Buy. The budget would be high because of all the traffic that goes into the store and how much they sell.
With these three choices I believe a media plan can be achieved very easily and for a good reason. I know that Melissa and I will work hard on whatever company we chose and will do our best to help the company better itself for the future. We wouldn't want to here of any of these places going bankrupt.

week 11 Blog post
From my research there are numerous technologies
being used on a daily bases, but what people think will stay and be invasive is
Spotify, Apple products, electric skin and drones to stalk the people you don't like or do like. With the news of these products staying I'm both excited and
ready crawl in a hole.
Spotify is a music based app that lets you listen
to music anytime you want without commercial if you pay for it every month. If
you don’t pay for it every month you still have commercials, but at least you don't buy the music. Spotify has been around for a while and is the direct
competition with Pandora. According the article Spotify will be around longer
than Pandora. Pandora is no different, but it’s also not the newest music app
and people like things new. Spotify will hopefully be around for who use the
app.I can see this app going far.
Apple macs are another technology that will last
for a long time unless we run out of money. Macs are used in my program and so
many others because they are said to work a little better and simpler than dell
or hp. The only issue I have with their article saying that Apple will be
longer than Hp is the fact the Apple is expensive. Chargers, getting the
product fixed, and even where you can go to fix it. I can see them lasting if
they lower the price and get more shops were Apple is sold. Apple does have a
nice program for those who like system Apple has. As a MarketSource phone rep I
can tell you that android users hate Apple and Apple users hate android. It’s all based on the operating system they
are used to and this doesn't go for all phone or computer users they sometimes
like switching and prefer the other. Apple does work wonderfully, but I doesn’t
work for everyone. I don't know what to think about Apple, but i know it is far from over.
Electric skin is a new one that is a gold patch
that will show your emotions. It mainly advertised to women, but that is
probably because men need a handbook for women’s emotions. I think that it will
be advertised to men as well because women need a book for them too. It change
to show what the person is feeling so it’s basically like a mood ring that goes
on your face. It looks cool, but I would never get it. I like to have my
emotions known to me and who I chose to share them with. It’s a cool idea for
those who don’t care who knows how they are feeling. I don't know if this will go far and I will be surprised if it does.
The last one I noticed was drones. Drones are
like the remote control copters and airplanes. The article said it was a good
way to watch the house and even make sure no one on the street is doing
anything illegal to someone. The only issue with it is when they use it to stalk
people. I would be a little worried because no one wants to be stalked every
minute of every day. This isn't a time for big brother to grow up and have
monitors everywhere. They are cool and I would get one to fly around and maybe
chase the cats or dogs around, but I wouldn't stalk someone with it. If drones do go far there will be a law on book for stalking.
The technology I have mentioned is what people
think will be around till the sun runs out. I personally think no one can know
that because no one know what the future holds. I mean for all we know zombies
could be eating our brains tomorrow and technology could be done for good. We
could be in a “last of us” situation and no one wants to be in that…I would
hope. Technology is a tricky thing and who knows what will be created next.
Week 10 Blog post
This week we are assigned to help our company chose what photo
sharing site would be best for them. For Disney I would say facebook,
instagram, and google+. These three just about everyone has due to the fact
that to have a google account you must create a google+. In the next three
paragraphs I will explain why these three photo sharing sites are the best
choice for Disney.
Facebook is a very popular site that can
share a status, video and pictures. Most of the world that has computers and has
social media has a Facebook account. Facebook is the new Myspace because its so
much better than Myspace. For Disney to share photo's of the theme parks, the
characters, new movies coming out, families having fun and anything else they
would share you need to be on the right place. Facebook connects to mothers,
fathers, families, and even people who love Disney and want a place to go have
fun. Sharing photos on Facebook would be my first choice for Disney
because of how popular and easy it is to create your own page so you are easy
to find.
When you think of instagram you think of
cats, clothes, and selfies. This is all true, but why not also create the
selfie at Disney World. You can share photos of selfies with Mickey, Goofy and
Donald. You can share photos of new rides and even just selfies of Disney
characters. Instagram is more of a site that today's youth is on because the
older generation might not be so interested in all of these new apps. If
today's generation sees something cool then you could easily have another
booking at Disney World because they will tell their parents about it. I would
suggest Instagram just because of how many younger people use it and everyone
has an inner Disney in them no matter the age.
Google+ is the last one I would suggest
because I know to have a Google account you have to have a Google+ account. It
isn't as popular as the prior sites I talked about, but it does still send a
notification saying that Disney Google+ shared some photo's. Personally I
really don't use Google+ unless I get a notification, but i know others that
use it a lot just because they want to keep an eye on it. It never hurts to
make a free Google+ and see if anyone notices what you put up.
Week 6 podcasts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zzyGpVn7vo-SUPERNATURAL PODCAST!
Season 10 episode 3 of Supernatural
How the podcast went- well it started out good organized and pretty much as any good podcast should start. The content stayed on track from the episode in full and what happened during it. The podcast people were involved for the whole 28min 22sec. They start by discussing how the episode went and how they liked it. Then they covered the characters in it which some were better than others. the last thing discuss is the death scene with Dean and Crowley which is a big moment whenever Dean dies because then you wonder how they are going to bring him back. The content is on track even though there is some swearing in it. they cover the whole episode not just parts and the they talk about why the episode went the way it did. Over all best podcast i have seen in a long time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RocQ4luw49g (my music podcast#1)
It doesn't seem organized at all and I get they are playing a character, but the content should be the same topic not all over. They do stay on topic for what they are talking about when it comes to intern 2. Its way unorganized otherwise and I have only watched 2 minutes of it. I don't know how much more I can take because the girl reminds me of Boxxy. It got a little organized about Metal not having a desk. I can't watch anymore it's just to annoying and bad. they content is just bad, the characters drive me nuts, and I am not sitting through the whole 21 minutes when I got a headache from 4 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNTH2JqrdfA (The science of video games)
Very good blog post that stays on topic. It is very educational about video games and how they can interact with how people act. I mean they talk about how video games can make you violent, but the say that the games let you get your anger out. They stay on topic through out the whole thing. It's all based on video games from what was the first to is violence in all video games. They keep an opened mind on what video games can do and how it can affect those who play. I really do like this because all of the people are educated and not just some random person spouting what they think without doing research. It is very interesting and if you have time i would suggest watching it. It is a very excellent podcast. it even has comedy in it which helps make it less boring.

Week 7
1. What is particular about home Depot's business made this how-to series of videos so successful? what other industries might be able to use a similar strategy?
*The way they planned it and presented it. They took well know disney songs targeting the 90's generation mainly. Disney is so well known by so many people if you here a tune that sounds like the "under the sea" you think oh thats the "Little Mermaid." They also made it really easy to understand what they are trying to tell you. They took the attention grabbing and then put the information in a way everyone can understand it.
*other industries like Target, Walmart, or shopko. they could have done this because then they can advertise what they are selling along with how to put them together. They all have furniture that isn't put together and sometimes its hard to figure out when not using the directions.
2. Are these instructional videos actually more effective than overt commercials?
*yes they put a face to it and make it more personal. Its like being told how to change your light bulb with just directions from the tv that don't wait for you to actually understand the first step. (me most of the time so I have to re-watch until i get it.) They make it more fun and friendly verses intimidating and dull. I watched a few of them and just wanted to dance and go build stuff. So they are more effective not only for directions, but drawing attention to the store.
3. Why did Home Depot choose to focus on producing youtube videos?
*Home Depot decided to focus on videos so they could advertise more and put a face to the company. they wanted to reach more people in a new way due the old not working as well. It as said in one person's reviews that the old way was pushy without a face. the new way is pushy with a face, but its really fun to watch.
Would vidoes exclusively hosted on its company web site or an other video sharing platforms have been equally effective?
*I don't think so because Youtube is a world known name (except for those countries that ban it) which makes advertising on it much easier and more known. Vine is well known too, but it has a time limit which these videos don't work with. Youtube is one of the only places other than facebook that doesn't seem to have a time limit on it.
4. what advantages did home Depot gain from having in store representatives featured in the videos? Name at least two advantages, and explain why they are important.
* They put a face on it. When any company puts a face on something it creates a new image on it. It becomes more friendly and inviting. I know that a lot of people hate the automatic voices that come on and no face to it. The face creates a common ground because they are a person and you are a person.
*They got attention which is big rule of advertising after making money. They took a well known style of singing while teaching and used it to their advantage. They also took Disney songs to the next level by making parodies that everyone can enjoy because they are not mean.
These two advantages are important because without them you have a dull boring commercial that people mute or go make food during.

Disney dining blog has comments on the bottom and most of them
are negative. They are pretty mean some even have swear words in them. One even
said "this is a (swear word) post" and some even are targeting people
at being gloomy and picky. So i would say this food critique is getting
critiqued.
This thread only does have eleven comments and i would assume that
more will come from people looking to go to Disneyland. I do have to laugh at
the one that say the turkey is actually emu meat! I do hope for his sake
they don’t attack him anymore for his opinion.
I don’t see a
solution for this one other than people being nicer about disagreeing with this
man’s opinion. It does stay on track of thinking this guy is gloomy, picky and
wrong. No not that I see.
This blog is easily
one that I figured would get lots of hate, but it actually has some supporter
on it. It’s called don’t be a Disney dad and a lot of me who I would assume
have kids have commented on it. It a positive comment area and they are saying
things like “thank you”, “Couldn’t agree more”, and showing lots of support. It’s
much different from the first one.
I do not see a solution
because I don’t really see one needed because it seems everyone is supportive. The
only thing I can see possible is just accepting people for who they are. It
does stay on discussion for supporting kids and having fathers in their life.
So this blog is
about planning a trip and being mom. Losing your kids is the worst thing for
both parents. The comments seem to be about just parents planning trips and
seeing about hotels and the best places to go without losing your mind. The
comments are all positive and they even have questions in them to create more
of a connection to help others. It does
stay on track with mainly just travel oriented content. I would assume they
would if there was a problem with anything. I have not seen one yet because
this blog most likely is not known to Disney like the other popular blogs.
all of them seem to be able to respond but i didn't see any that did.
